Quality & Accuracy

Special alloy steel, precision manufacturing, special heat treatment, advanced design and the individual inspection of each product at various stages of production are the foundations of Torque Master quality.

Torque accuracy

±3% accuracy, better than the ±4% required by ISO 6789:2017

ISO 6789:2017 is the international standard for hand torque tools. Full-load tests are carried out on each and every torque wrench before dispatch.

A three-phase signal (sight, touch and sound) tells the user the set torque has been reached, and torque can be applied to both right-hand and left-hand threaded fasteners. TMT micrometer wrenches are calibrated in the clockwise direction only.

Durability has been a priority throughout development, both in the life of the tool and in its calibration.

How quality is built in

From steel to dispatch

Special alloy steel

High-strength alloy steel is used for torque wrenches, sockets and drive tools.

Precision manufacturing

Sockets are machined to maintain the tolerances recommended for impact application on hex and square drives.

Special heat treatment

Precise heat treatment gives torque wrenches their strength; sockets are multiple tempered to keep hardness within limits.

Stage-wise inspection

Each product is individually inspected at various stages of production.

Full-load testing

Full-load tests are carried out on each and every torque wrench before dispatch.

ISO 9001:2015

Torque Master operates an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system.

Calibration

Calibration & recalibration

Every Torque Master torque wrench carries its own unique serial number and is supplied with its own calibration certificate. Calibration is traceable through NABL-accredited reference equipment.

Recalibration interval

The recalibration interval is set by the user, based on the required accuracy, frequency of use, typical load, and the operating and storage conditions. If you do not have a control procedure, use a default interval of 12 months or approximately 5,000 cycles. For the first recalibration, the interval is counted from the date of first use, not from the factory calibration date.

Recalibrate immediately

  • After an overload greater than 125% of the maximum rated load
  • After any repair
  • After any mishandling, such as a drop, that could affect its accuracy

A full repair and calibration service is available on request, at a charge. Please do not attempt to adjust or repair a torque wrench yourself.

Warranty

Warranty

Torque Master torque wrenches carry a warranty of 12 months from the date of purchase.

  • If inspection shows that a fault is due to defective materials or workmanship, the repair is carried out free of charge.
  • The warranty is effective only on production of the original dated purchase invoice as proof of purchase within the warranty period.
  • The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, or any damage caused by misuse, careless or unsafe handling, alterations, accidents, or repairs attempted or made by anyone other than the authorised service department.
  • If a tool is found to be outside the terms of the warranty, a written quotation for the work required will be provided.
  • This warranty applies in place of any other warranty, express or implied, and variations of its terms are not authorised.

Calibration and warranty

Calibration validity is independent of the product warranty period. The calibration interval is determined by the user and starts from the date of first use, not from the factory calibration date, so a calibration certificate is not considered expired solely because the warranty period has ended.
